Jeepers creepers!
The Gamers Outreach Spooktacular Streamathon was a project I was heavily involved in while working as part of a team at Capacity Studios. Gamers Outreach was one of my favorite clients, and this project in particular was extremely fun and an excellent opportunity to get creative and a little bit funky with it!
This is a yearly online fundraising event for the charity Gamers Outreach. Even though the event had been running for several years already, they were seeking a new branding package that was eye-catching and kid-friendly and could carry them through several more years of Spooktaculars to come.
For my involvement in this project, I spearheaded character/monster design, some scene illustration, merchandise, and social media assets for the involved streamers to use as they promoted their streams for the event.
It all started with a sketch...
I started the process of character design by letting my imagination loose on a few pages of my sketchbook. While I begun with more classic, nameable monsters, I eventually decided to go for more non-humanoid creatures that read friendlier and more fun for kids at our imaginary carnival.
Once our favorite characters were selected, I brought them to life with fun, cartoon-inspired color and shading, and settled them all throughout our spectacular circus!
The team at Gamers Outreach was looking for wacky, kid-friendly monsters with a Scooby-Doo type flair. I had a lot of fun coming up with these zany carnival characters! By far, the favorite of everyone involved (myself included!) was the small but spunky popcorn monsters. These little troublemakers got themselves into lots of mischief, and ended up being the mascots and fan favorites of the whole event!
